Community Led Design of a Pocket Park, Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, 2010
During the design process the concerns of the local community about the current public space were translated into a well-functioning design without affecting the simplicity and clarity of the original design.
The design proposed the insertion of simple rectangular lawns for playing and rectangular planting beds filled with perennials flowering in autumn colours to reflect the park's name. The rectangular fields integrated well with the simplicity of the original design. Furthermore the new design re-positioned the benches into groups away from the houses reducing the noise pollution.
